TB iELISA Chimera
Test with confidence without breaking the bank
SIMPLE PROCEDURE
The Embrapa kit was developed at Embrapa Beef Cattle in Campo Grande, Brazil by the team of Dr. Flabio Araujo. The kit has been licensed, co-developed, and validated in a joint effort between Embrapa and Ellie. The final product is continuously being validated and optimized and is currently on the market.
General
Information
The TB iELISA Chimera uses antigens from MPB70, MPB83, and ESAT-6 of Mycobacterium bovis. These antigens have been fused into one chimeric protein, expressed in a recombinant protein system, and subsequently purified. The TB iELISA has shown exceptional specificity when testing large numbers of animals in TB-free zones. The kit can detect anergic animals even without prior stimulation. We intend to use this kit in long term, privately-funded TB eradication programs, which will be made possible with solid research data, constant improvement, and an affordable price.

Let us help you with the most comprehensive support you can get
The use of TB iELISA test kits during eradication efforts is often misconstrued, and false expectations often prevent the proper use of this technology. Answering the question: “Which animal is positive?” often becomes sidelined. When using an iELISA test, high-positive animals will have obvious lesions and are often anergic. Medium-positive animals will have some lesions, and animals presenting a low-positive signal will have only antibodies (with or without lesions). We recommend using the iELISA test frequently (because of its affordable price) to find anergic animals and move them out of the herd. High-positive animals are often anergic to a skin test, and low-positive animals are easily detected using a skin test. Between these two technologies, the right pool of animals will be detected and removed. However, tests can only support important changes in the management system that actually prevent transmission and ultimately lead to the eradication of the disease.
Ellie’s team of scientists can help you eradicate TB by tailoring the most affordable and comprehensive TB control program that meets your needs. We can help implement specific management, testing, and culling programs. We have teamed up with exceptional scientists who are experts with TB.

The MYCOBACTERIUM BOVIS ANTIBODY TEST KIT, iELISA is a qualitative test using indirect ELISA technology. The test is designed to determine the presence of antibodies against specific peptide sequences of MPB70, MPB83, and eSAT6 proteins of Mycobacterium bovis in individual bovine serum samples. The presence of antibodies is indicative of exposure to Mycobacterium bovis.
